yesterday i saw former president bill clinton speak on health care (and briefly and clearly regrettably on the war in iraq) in san francisco. his speech was intelligent, compelling, and at times hilarious. i miss 1992 to 2000 so much.
yesterday evening i watched the cbs news and saw footage of myself staring adoringly at bill.
it was a good day. |

i am deeply in love with the game 'lumines.' tetris aside (of course), i have never been so impressed by a puzzle videogame. it's original, clever, and a ton of fun. my one complaint is i can't play a game in under an hour. i often spend close to two hours playing a single game. this is a problem... i may need to give up sleep or one of my two jobs. |

today i received a parking ticket, had a turd deposited in my car (don't ask), and discovered that spike tv has replaced its daily afternoon 'the next generation' marathon with a daily afternoon 'voyager' marathon.

tomorrow night i will be seeing roger waters (former songwriter, bassist, and creative genius behind pink floyd) in concert.
i am so god-damn fucking excited. this really is a dream come true for me.
i just wish the rest of the band were going to be there as well. |

i hate las vegas.
however, i love 'star trek: the experience.' not really sure why; i'm not exactly a trekkie. i just love it though. love, love, love... if ever in vegas be sure to stop by to meet some klingons, buy some romulan ale, and bring home a pet tribble. |

heath and i are leaving tonight for vegas. my father in law is getting remarried in the city of sin, possibly by elvis. it's so hard to tell when he (father in law, not elvis) is joking and when he it completely serious. i certainly would not be surprised if elvis did indeed officiate. i hope so.
this trip is looking to be disturbingly high-class. we are flying there and back on a private lear jet. i am super excited about this. while in vegas we are staying at the bellagio. i am moderately excited about this. i am eager to see what the 'electronic drapes' mentioned on their website are all about. this all seems far too fancy for the likes of me.
as an after-thought: what kind of state legalizes prostitution but possession of marijuana is a felony? |

whoever thought to combine star wars, legos, and video games really deserves... something fabulous. while certainly not a perfect game, the new (original trilogy) star wars legos brings me so much happiness. i don't know how i lived before having the chance to battle a lego rancor, watch a non-vocalizing lego vader convey to lego luke the truth of his paternity, or rip the lego arms off of just about everyone as lego chewie.

i have just ordered the most wonderful bumper sticker ever from a group called Paleoartisans down in New Mexico. i try to keep the back-side of my car relatively clutter free but I just could not pass this one up:
"Reunite Gondwanaland!"
so hilarious. i worry it may be a bit TOO obscure though. |

a student emailed me to explain what on earth could be more important than coming to class and learning about the wonders of mitosis and meiosis:
"Dear Mrs. Evans-Smith,
I will not be attending class today because I have a quest in town."
it took me a full 30 minutes to realize that she meant 'guest' and not 'quest.' during those 30 minutes i was very happy. |
